Get names to read

To help participants and organizers get names to read, we have developed a new tool with the help of artificial intelligence. It allows you to get names via Telegram or via e-mail (using the form below).

The bot randomly retrieves the requested number of names of executed people from a pre-prepared sample, which consists of 120 thousand records from the Open List database.

Below are some notes on how the bot functions.

  • The names are picked at random
You would get a specific number of randomly picked names from our sample of 120 thousand records upon your request. This tool does not allow you to filter by any characteristic. To find names of people from specific categories (filtering by nationality, for example), please use the name databases themselves.
  • A name is only picked once
Once you have received a name card, the program eliminates the entry from the queue. No one else will receive that card. This rule has been put in place for us to know which names have been read and which ones have not. Please keep this in mind.
  • The possibility of error
The AI model may not be able to cope with language specificities, abbreviations, and geography. Therefore, we ask you to pay attention to the cards you receive from the bot: please check the received text before reading it out at your event (you can access the data your card was generated from by clicking the “id data source” button), and correct it if necessary.
The database contains more than three million records, which are compiled from various sources: regional memory books, archival card catalogs, digitized documents, etc. Therefore, it may contain all kinds of inaccuracies. If you notice any and trust your judgement, you can correct them by registering on the site. If in doubt, you can write to us.
  • The names are given in Russian
If you want to get names in a different language, you can get the names in a .csv file and translate.

Get the names via e-mail

If you are participating in the campaign, the organizers have most likely prepared the cards in advance. But you can also request names yourself.

We recommend that participants read two names each, so the form below will ask how many participants you want names for.

Mark how many people you would like to receive names for, and you will receive the corresponding number of cards with the names of people executed by the Soviet authorities.
