There are several ways to take part in “Returning the Names”.
About our Telegram bot
This year we have developed a Telegram bot that can help you participate in the campaign and answer your questions! You can use it yourself, or you can send it to your family and friends who share our values. There you can find details about the forms of participation in the 2024 campaign, request names to read, fill out the organizer’s questionnaire, ask us any questions, or share videos and photos of your event with us.
Join the event in your city or town
Find your city in the Cities 2024 section and join the action on the specified date. We try to publish the most accurate information about the date, time, and venue for each city. However, we still advise you to subscribe to the social media page of the event you plan to attend, so you don’t miss anything. You can also contact the organizers directly if they have provided a way to do so — you may find it in the description of a particular event.
Organize the event in your city or town
If your city is not on the list, you can organize a Returning the Names reading yourself. It doesn’t have to be a huge event. Returning the Names can be just a few people reading out the names of victims of political persecution at a place associated with the history of terror or resistance. Go to the Become an Organizer section for detailed instructions and tips on preparing the names to read, filming, and more.
Record the video and post it on social media
If you don’t have time to record the reading in advance, can’t go live, prefer a different format of filming, or just want to simply publish the clip on your page, you can do just that. Share your post with us by using the hashtag #returningthenames and tagging Memorial’s social media account. You can find links to all our social media in the website’s header. We will see your posts and would be happy to share them on October 29.

We understand that not everyone is ready to participate in a public action and we appreciate any support you may offer. You can make a donation to support the campaign.
